Nature & Animals @ The Gallery

Join Lee Thomas at The Gallery this Friday for the private view of the latest exhibition - Nature & Animals. Animals have always been strong staple of artists work, and this collection showcases a wide range of interpretations.
We are very excited by the prospect of ‘The Aviary’, a collection and assemblage of bird like forms.
The exhibition runs from Saturday 15th October - Saturday 12th November.
Vintage Pop Up!

Get down to Lee Thomas’s gallery space just off head street for a bit of vintage retail therapy. Tomorrow is the last day so make sure you pop in for clothes, homeware, pictures and even vintage spectacles!
New exhibition @ The Gallery

The Gallery is a new exhibition space based just off Colchester Head St (between Vinnys cafe and the fishmongers) and has a new show opening today.
Lee Thomas set up the space and he gave us the lowdown on the inspiration behind the new show:
The show first took shape when I was sent a package of old sketchbooks from my girlfriends step dad (Tony Kennderdale). The sketches and fragments originate from the years 1972-81. They are predominately inspired by West Yorkshire moorland, and the various aspects of that landscape captured with a variety of materials from ink and acrylic to tea and coffee washes.
I immediately felt that they would make a show and so I decided to include some of my sketches and drawings as well. My drawings are from my travels in Asia in 2007. Our styles are very similar and so it feels like a nice connection to show both together.
Finally Sara E Napoletani came on board when she approached me with her work. She had visited the gallery and seen some of my work. Her work again is inspired by the North and specific area’s around the Lake District. Her work again has a nice link to Tony’s stuff and all three styles have similar threads. Both me and Sara have studied at the institute and Tony lived in Wivenhoe for many years.
We look forward to viewing some brilliant travel inspired sketches tonight, hope to see you there.
