Crafty & creative workshops here this Saturday

We’ve got a superb double bill of creative workshops all hosted here at 15 Queen Street this Saturday 25th February.

Embroiderers Guild

First up from 10am - 12pm is the Embroiderers Guild taking over our event space to host a open workshop (so you don’t need to be a member). This month’s theme is Ribbon Development. We can’t tell you much more than that except these workshops are all about exploring and experimenting with modern materials. Organiser Linda brings a bundle of fantastic materials for you to get stuck in with. Plus you are provided with examples and lots of ideas to inspire you.

The cost of the morning is £5 plus £1 towards the cost of materials. For more info & to RSVP visit the meetup page.

‘Finding Inspiration for Creative Writing’

Then we have a Creative Writing workshop - ‘Finding Inspiration for Creative Writing’ hosted by our new flexi member Sarah Banham at 1 - 2pm. We interviewed Sarah as part of our member showcase here. The workshop’s aim is to help unlock your imagination and get that hidden story within everyone a chance to come alive. An interactive workshops with plenty of refreshment and breaks - ensuring to give your imagination a helping hand or a gentle kick!

This workshop is £40 for 4 hours. Materials supplied. For more info & to RSVP visit the meetup page.

Both event hosts signed up as flexi members to be able to run events from the building. By creatives, for creatives. We want to make sure the building is working hard for our town. Come along this Saturday, get your creativity flowing and meet some local artists.

Welcome to Colchester Poetry

We have tons of new meetups starting this month. Today we’d like to introduce you all to Colchester Poetry. The concept for this group, set up by Taylor, will be a place for local poets to share work, collaborate, and to simply meet other like minded creatives.

The first meeting is the Tuesday 7th of February 7:30 - 9.30pm.

The first session will be purely to arrange how each meeting should operate, depending on what kind of balance most people would desire between studying poetry in general and submitting their own for discussion.

Please come along and be part of the shaping process. Taylor has created a forum here and submitted two poems to get the ball rolling.

For more info please contact Taylor.

And don’t forget to RSVP via our meetup group.

Colchester Digital is a Meetup group for individuals and businesses in and around the Colchester area. They have been active for over 8 months now hosting meet ups once a month (on a Thursday) at various locations in and around the Colchester area.

They get together to share knowledge, experience and information, and where possible to collaborate on a wider scale. It’s essentially a group of like-minded people who want to grow a bigger and better foundation for the digital community in Colchester.

Spanning the digital sectors, their members are developers, designers, digital image and video specialists, photographers, marketers, PR, social media and SEO experts, and everything between. The group welcomes freelancers, graduates, experts, professionals and anybody who feels that they could gain from the group, or add something to it. If you feel you could hop along to their meetup group to become part of this new digital community, gain info all their events and easily RSVP.

The group pages allow for interaction with other members and for dialogue to occur, and your suggestions on future Meetups or events are more than welcome. There are no expectations if you join, all we ask is that you give us your feedback and input your ideas when you can.

They hold their Speaker event here every three months.
