Call for poets!

We have been contacted by designer Jonathan Fairfax who is working on some ‘railway line arcs’ for the new Colchester Town Railway Station Square on behalf of Colchester Borough Council.

Jonathan is looking for some local poets and word smiths to submit ideas for ‘beautiful’ text to be etched into his installation. Designs for which are shown in the image above.

Jonathan says:

My idea is for steel arcs to be inlaid in the new Station Square floor and include etched text/poetry.

Words can relate to Colchester, Stations, Traveling, Destinations, Trains, Journeys or anything relevant that springs to mind. It’s very open” he continues… “There could be a poem on each line or a longer poem which covered both ‘arcs’.

If you are interested or know anyone who would, please pass the message on and submit contributions to Jonathan on jo@jo-fairfax.eclipse.co.uk

This will be a permanent piece in the new Railway Station Square so potentially a great showpiece for a local creative talent.

Welcome to Colchester Poetry

We have tons of new meetups starting this month. Today we’d like to introduce you all to Colchester Poetry. The concept for this group, set up by Taylor, will be a place for local poets to share work, collaborate, and to simply meet other like minded creatives.

The first meeting is the Tuesday 7th of February 7:30 - 9.30pm.

The first session will be purely to arrange how each meeting should operate, depending on what kind of balance most people would desire between studying poetry in general and submitting their own for discussion.

Please come along and be part of the shaping process. Taylor has created a forum here and submitted two poems to get the ball rolling.

For more info please contact Taylor.

And don’t forget to RSVP via our meetup group.

We found this work in progress from flexi member lizziekevan:

Today’s screen prints - this is a work in progress, illustrating a poem by Ed Mayhew.

Look forward to the finished piece!
