Are you a crafty lady or gentleman?

It’s time for Stitch and Bitch!

Tuesday 31st January
6pm drop in
15 Queen Street, CO1 2PH

Stitch & Bitch events are traditionally knitting and having a right ol nag. At fifteen Queen Street we invite you instead to either hand sew or use a sewing machine while we natter.

This month we will be making 2012 stitching essentials: Pin Cushions & Needle Wallets.

Keep all your pins in one place with your own handmade pin cushion. It can be any shape you like - a tomato, house, flower, or a traditional pillow shape.

Needle Wallets are little felt ‘books’ you tuck your needles into. Pop it in your bag or in your craft box and never fear pricking your finger as you grab for your needle ever again!

Felt and fabric is provided but please bring your own if you have a certain idea in mind.

This is an open drop in session, starting at 6pm. We will be here til late. We have everything you need - sewing machines, needles, thread. fifteen Queen Street will provide tea, coffee, biscuits and music.

If you have a personal haberdashery project you are working on, why not bring it along? Join us to meet some local crafty ladies (and gentlemen) and have an evening of getting your stitch on.

Beginners to pros are welcome.

RSVP via our meetup group Creative in Colchester.

Reblogged from houseofpandas:

At last i got to a ‘stitch and bitch’ night in Colchester - 15 Queen Street and managed to finish my ickle Christmas tree bunting!!  Not so much bitchin on my part but a lot of stitching and tittering at other peoples bitchin. I’m looking forward to the next one - should my tots allow me to go??  - Thanks Alex!!

Thank you Kate! Glad you enjoyed the stitching, the bitching is of course give or take. We’re taking a break for the holidays and our little evening crafty session will start up again in January. Hosted every last Tuesday of the month we provide a small workshop to wet your crafty appetite. You are also welcome to bring along your own haberdashery project and get stuck in with fellow creative ladies and gentlemen. Beginners to pros welcome.
More info on our Meetup page here.

Let’s Stitch & Bitch

Tuesday 29th November
15 Queen Street, Colchester

Drop in from 6pm til late

This month we will be making something we all need in these winter nights - draft excluders. Co-ordinator Alex will be running the workshop providing patterns for you to use, adapt, or go wild and free style. You could make a dog, snake or classic long log shape. Stick to the pattern or adapt it to make a snake with a top hat, sausage cat or just stitch on a load of weird felt.

At Stitch & Bitch we invite you to get stitchin’, meet some local crafty ladies (and gentlemen) and have fun. We don’t mind if you’ve never sewn before or are a textile professional. The aim is to get people together, be creative and have a great night.

If you could bring along a fabric of your choice, we recommend vintage/retro for a true 70s feel. We will have odd fabric for you to help yourself with along with bits of felt, buttons and ribbon. We will also have tea, coffee, and music. Bring along your sewing machine if you like. Alex will have hers to whip your stuff through.

You can RSVP via our Creative in Colchester meetup here.

Stitch and Bitch this Wednesday

Wednesday 24 August
15 Queen Street, Colchester, CO1 2PH
4pm til late

If you are free Wednesday evening, we will be running a little Stitch and Bitch here from fifteen Queen Street.

We have an exciting line up of events and activities for the Colchester Free Festival this Saturday. Colchester Arts Centre has kindly lent us use of their Routemaster Bus and we have curated talks, workshops and even films to be shown throughout the day.

To make our old, well used bus really magical, we want to make cushions and bunting to brighten it up a bit.

Please pop in from 4pm, bring your own sewing machine if you can (no worries if not, we will have lots of needles and thread) and we will provide tea, coffee, biscuits and music.

We have 30 cushions to sew, triangles to cut and 20 meters of bunting to make. Beginners to pros are welcome. Come along to meet some other fellow crafty ladies (and gentlemen) and enjoy a good stitch and bitch!

Let Alex know if you want to come, bring a friend and call 01206 56288 if you have any questions.
